New sight for sniper Kyril

In combat, mercy toward the enemy is ultimately suicide. Every opponent you don’t kill can kill you in the next moment… This was known to snipers in World War II and is well understood by the Belarusian sniper Kyril. He has lived in the Czech Republic for more than fifteen years and speaks Czech very well. He has been fighting with the Ukrainian army for a long time. You may remember him from a previous successful fundraiser when we pooled money during the summer counteroffensive to buy optics for his weapon. A thermal binocular and night-vision gear are already doing their job in the Donbas and helping Kyril and his team hold the lines.

Seeing the enemy is the most important thing for a sniper. Seeing farther than the enemy is key to victory and to the sniper’s own survival. Kyril is an excellent sniper, but he needs better equipment. His team received a sniper rifle that can shoot much farther than their current gear. He needs good optics for it — he needs a “third eye.”

This war will be long, and the Ukrainian army will need our help. You cannot win without weapons and good optics. And without people willing to sacrifice their comfort and often their lives to keep the lines holding back Putin’s aggression, progress will be minimal. Kyril is one of those people.

WHAT WILL BE PURCHASED

• 4× Garmin ballistic watches
• 1× Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XL50 riflescope (or an equivalent full-featured optic)

“We expanded the team and a sponsor is providing a new rifle that shoots much farther than my current one — up to 1,500 m. But we need a quality scope for it. And we also need to start solving the precise calculation of the ballistic trajectory so we can be more successful than the Russians,” says Kyril, commander of a team of four sniper pairs in the Donbas. For the new rifle he needs a Thermion 2 LRF XL50 scope from Pulsar or a full equivalent. Kyril and his team operate at night, so the quality requirements are high. With the right gear he can protect his life as well as possible. In extremely difficult and dangerous conditions snipers also need to compute ballistic trajectories. There’s no time to dig through tables or search the web. The best solution are ballistic watches with night-vision capable programs. Kyril and his team need Garmin Tactix 7 PRO Solar Sapphire Ballistics Edition (Black Nylon Band) watches, which can calculate the ballistic trajectory without putting their user at risk. Each sniper pair needs one ballistic watch.

WHO WE WILL HELP

Joining the Ukrainian army is far from easy for Belarusians who want to show their opposition to Lukashenko’s regime and Putin’s Russia. By principle they are viewed as enemies and Ukrainians must be wary of them; they must earn the trust of Ukrainians. Kyril earned that trust. He first completed thorough training and then became a sniper at one of the toughest front positions — near Maryinka. Fighting there requires extraordinary courage and skill.

Kyril proved himself and the commanders of the 79th Brigade of the AFU noticed. Today he leads a whole team — three sniper pairs, drone operators, drivers, and other specialists. Kyril has gained a lot of experience that he now passes on to other fighters.

With better equipment, Kyril and his team will continue contributing to keeping the Ukrainian lines intact and perhaps one day pushing them in the right direction.
