Vehicles for Ukraine

Campaign objective

Purchase and transport as many used cars, SUVs and pickup trucks as possible to Ukraine - They will receive the necessary care and significant modification in Ukraine. We will repair all the cars, lighten some of them, armour others, so that they last as long as possible in brutal conditions. We will hand over the cars to where they are most needed, where they are most missing and where the losses are greatest!

The vehicles will thus serve to increase the mobility of Ukrainian citizens, international volunteers, medics, doctors, aid workers and others who are helping Ukraine overcome the worst period in their country's history.

Why Ukraine needs used cars

It would be very nice if Ukraine had an unlimited supply of armored cars, pickup trucks or SUVs so that every Ukrainian man and woman could get a vehicle to suit their needs. To move around the country knowing that they can rely on the thick armour and active protection elements that the situation in Ukraine demands. But Ukraine has no such supplies, car imports are expensive and scarce commodities, and no one is offering anyone a replacement for a destroyed car. Automakers do not manufacture in Ukraine and import duties are often higher than the face value of the vehicle.

Our beneficiaries often have to move quickly to safety, increasingly need to pick up the wounded, arrange their transportation even over long distances, plan for supplies and support volunteers who are often neglected by Ukraine! In all of this they come under constant fire, and have to traverse even the most difficult terrain at speeds that are hard to imagine. Even the most ordinary car is both a treasure and a consumable in these conditions. Ukrainians are great mechanics and can fix a lot, but the demand for any car and spare parts is endless.

Czech Organizations Neohnutí z.s. and KoridorUA, have already imported hundreds of used cars to Ukraine. Some have been turned into buggies, others are used for supply and transport of the wounded. Therefore, they decided to jointly announce a long-term collection to ensure a continuous supply of vehicles for all the needs that the war brings.

What cars we buy

We're not picky. Of course, we are most interested in off-road vehicles, pickups and vans and trucks of all kinds, but any civilian car can be modified to serve in a hospital or in the protection of civilians. Sometimes it's even important to make it look as ordinary as possible, because at least it will be a less interesting target for the soldiers and it protects the crew inside the vehicle.

The vast majority of cars are repaired and rebuilt after being brought to Ukraine. Many are getting camouflage paintwork, some parts are being reinforced and modified into buggies. Some of them are basically left with just a skeleton with an engine on which iron plates are hung to protect the crew. Passenger cars that are not suitable for conversion are placed in the rear and used to move wounded, supplies, and other aid that is needed.

Who we help

Our main partner and project sponsor in this campaign is the organization Koridor UA. Koridor UA is known mainly for its well-developed logistics and permanent presence in Ukraine. It develops aid in the active war zone exclusively through partners and smaller Ukrainian organizations that have permission and access where Koridor UA is explicitly not allowed! We know the UA Corridor intimately and have worked with it many times in the past. The people of Koridor have been involved in Ukraine aid, logistics and vehicle export since 2022. We also occasionally buy cars for specific projects or partners we know, but in this long-term campaign we will invest primarily in a program with Koridor UA.

Koridor UA undertakes all its activities in accordance with international humanitarian law. For assistance in places where by definition it is not allowed to go, or where humanitarian law loses its effect and relevance, i.e. in places where we meet the regular army of Ukraine, on the so-called hot line, on ground zero, we exclusively use partner organisations that deliver the vehicle and report to us on the final use of the vehicle. We all wish we didn't have to devise new ways to penetrate the war environment as effectively as possible, but unfortunately developments and the sequence of events have led us to make and intensify efforts to defend our freedom and democratic values! This includes the practical redirection of funds from selected "Weapons to Ukraine" organizations to other Ukrainian entities.
